Design Spot 250 White Press Release

Elation Introduces Design Spot 250 WHITE:
Popular 250-Watt Hybrid Spot Wash Moving Head Now Available In All-White Case

LOS ANGELES-When Elation Professional introduced the Design Spot 250, it was hailed as a breakthrough “hybrid” fixture that was both spot and wash in one. Whats more, this versatile, compact moving head came loaded with features you didnt typically find on 250-watt lights, like Frost and Iris capabilities.

Now Elation has introduced an all-white version of this innovative fixture - the Design Spot 250 WHITE. Identical to the original in every way except for its exterior color, the Design Spot 250 WHITE is a 250-watt DMX moving head in a stylish, eye-catching white case.

Designed to coordinate with neutral ceilings and backdrops, the Design Spot 250 WHITE is ideal for churches, architectural applications, stage sets, clubs and other venues where a white or light color theme is utilized. Its clean white lines give it a modern, decorator-style look that will enhance any venue.

“We believe that a moving head lights exterior appearance should be as attractive and appropriate for a site as the effects it produces,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “There are a lot of venues and applications where the décor or specs call for a white fixture. Now, with the introduction of the Design Spot 250 WHITE, this unique hybrid fixture can be used in such applications.”

One thing that makes the Design Spot 250 WHITE so unique is that it can function as both a spot and wash, thanks to its Frost capability, a rare feature on a compact 250-watt fixture. When the Frost is applied, it takes away the hard edges of the spotlight and converts it to a softer wash of light. The Frost is the variable type, so users can control how much edge is taken away, from hard edge to soft edge. In fact, the Frost on the Design Spot 250 WHITE is so good that it can completely remove the spotlight edge.

“In the past, this type of professional-quality wash-like Frost feature was only available on larger, more expensive fixtures,” said Loader. “Thats one of the things that made the Design Spot 250 so desirable to lighting users and installers. People who want a 250-watt fixture with Frost no longer have to pay for a higher-wattage light than they need.”

The Design Spot 250 WHITEs Iris is another feature thats not readily available on 250-watt fixtures. The Iris allows users to pinpoint performers, presenters and objects at any distance. It also features a pulse effect like those used in major production shows.

Gobo morphing is another of the Design Spot 250 WHITEs desirable features thats a rarity on 250-watters. The unit includes 14 interchangeable metal and glass gobos-7 rotating and 7 static - on two separate wheels, which users can overlay to create the popular morphing effect.

With 8 dichroic filters (7 colors plus white), the Design Spot 250 WHITE can perform continuous color scrolling in two directions for a stunning rainbow effect. Whats more, the unit has a true UV filter, which, combined with its Frost filter and high-output lamp, delivers a truly outstanding UV wash effect.

Other effects on the Design Spot 250 WHITE include: a 3-facet prism that rotates in both directions at variable speeds; variable speed strobe effect; pre-set variable/random strobe and dimming pulse effect; and Dual Flag mechanical dimming system. A fully rotating moving head fixture, the Design Spot 250 WHITE has a maximum pan movement of 530? and maximum tilt movement of 280?.

The Design Spot 250 WHITEs optical system features a high-output luminous-parabolic dichroic reflector. It delivers an impressive output of over 250 foot-candles at 15 feet. Its beam angle is 17?, with replaceable 14?and 20? beam angles included. All lenses are anti-reflection coated.

With its high output, unique features and compact 250-watt size, the Design Spot 250 WHITE is ideal for the rental market, noted Loader. “Here again, features like Frost and Iris were typically found only on larger fixtures, which are much more difficult to transport. The Design Spot 250 WHITEs portability and professional features make it a great unit for rentals,” Loader said

Equipped with 16 DMX channels, the Design Spot 250 WHITE features Elations exclusive RDMX (Remote DMX Addressing) capability, which allows users to change the units DMX settings remotely from any universal DMX controller. In addition to being operated with a DMX controller, the Design Spot 250 WHITE can be run in Sound Active mode.

The Design Spot 250 WHITE comes with a Philips MSD 250/2 250-watt 3000-hour lamp. It measures 14"L x 14"W x 22.5"H and weighs 57.5 lbs. The suggested retail price of the Design Spot 250 WHITE is $2,799.95.
