Elation’s DMX-Branch/419 DMX Splitter
Makes It Easy To Run Lighting In Multiple Zones
LOS ANGELES -- Elation Professional has come out with a convenient, affordable way for lighting professionals to link and run DMX lighting fixtures in multiple locations throughout a theater or venue. The company has introduced the DMX-Branch/419, a 19” rack-mountable 4-way DMX distributor that features one DMX input, four DMX outputs and DMX through.
Ideal for theaters, touring concerts, stage shows, large entertainment venues -- or anywhere that DMX lighting is used in multiple areas -- the DMX-Branch/419 will “split” a DMX signal and relay it out to as many as four different zones. This allows DMX lighting fixtures to be daisy-chained separately in each of the four zones, making it easier to run a trouble-free, coordinated intelligent lighting presentation.
But the flexible DMX-Branch/419 goes a step beyond that. Being both rack-mountable and linkable, multiple units can be stacked and connected together via 3 or 5 pin XLR cable to split the DMX signal more than four ways. Thus, with the DMX-Branch-419, users can run DMX fixtures in eight or twelve zones, or more -- whatever their lighting needs demand.
“One of the DMX-Branch/419’s great advantages is that it’s rack-mountable and linkable, so you can use it in multiples to split the DMX signal into as many zones as you need,” said John Lopez, product manager for Elation Professional. “It’s much easier to run a multi-area lighting presentation and keep the DMX signals flowing smoothly if you separate the signal into different zones, than if you tried to daisy-chain all the fixtures together. The DMX-Branch/419 allows you to make these zonal divisions, and it’s also very flexible and expandable, because it can be linked in multiples.”
In addition to functioning as a DMX splitter, the DMX-Branch/419 has powered channels that boost all outgoing DMX signals. This allows a more powerful signal to be transmitted, ensuring that all fixtures will receive the right “instructions.”
If a problem with a cable or DMX transmission ever does occur, users will know about it right away. The DMX-Branch/419 features LED data indicators that tell which of the incoming and outgoing channels are currently transmitting signals. “The LED indicators will tell you at a glance if any of the connections in your entire set-up are not working,” said Lopez. “This is a very convenient feature, because it lets you isolate any transmission or cable problems immediately.”
The DMX-Branch/419 also offers electronic and opto-isolation protection against electrical surges. This is a valuable feature, because it safeguards delicate, expensive intelligent fixtures from electric voltage damage. “The DMX-Branch/419 is a wise buy for lighting professionals, because it will help protect their investment in lighting gear,” noted Lopez.
With a list price of just $399.95, the DMX-Branch/419 is also an excellent value for lighting professionals. The unit features both 3 and 5 pin XLR connectors for ultimate flexibility of use. It also includes a Link Out/Terminate Button and 50mA internal fuse. Compact and lightweight for easy mobility, the 19” rack-mountable unit measures 19” x 7.25” x 3” and weighs just 7 lbs.
