Full-service event production company Atlanta Sound and Lighting (ASL) was among the early adopters of Elation’s Paragon LED profile moving head in 2025 and has since reaped the benefits across a wide range of projects.
“Quite honestly, when Elation comes out with a new product, I like to be among the first to have it because that’s what clients want,” said Scott Waterbury, General Manager and Co-Founder at Atlanta Sound and Lighting. “They’re looking for something nobody else has, and that’s what we want to be known for — high-quality products with unique, innovative technology. Paragon is a well-thought-out, versatile fixture, and we appreciate having had the opportunity to invest early.”
Paragon, Elation’s award-winning flagship luminaire series, showcases innovative technology at its core while delivering powerful output, precise gobos, rich colors, and accurate framing in an IP54-rated fixture built for demanding indoor and outdoor entertainment applications. The platform integrates multiple advanced systems, including Elation’s TruTone variable CRI technology, interchangeable lens system, HEPA filtration, and more.
One of the first companies to invest in Paragon, ASL stocks the Paragon M model and has used it on everything from small corporate gigs to major music festivals, political events, outdoor weddings, and more. The fixtures debuted at the Shaky Knees Music Festival last year and have been in regular use since.
“We do quite a few outdoor shows and festivals, so obviously the outdoor rating was attractive. And yet they are still relatively lightweight,” said ASL’s Bryson Means. “The output we get from them is fantastic, and they color match well with our existing Artiste Picasso fixtures.”
A feature they have come to particularly appreciate is the Aria x2 wireless device management system, which allows for simplified setup and control. “The Aria system works great over long distances and has been a real asset on some of our largest outdoor gigs where fixtures can be widely spread,” Means said. “It’s also a great backup option. The system is evolving, and it’s a real pleasure having the ability to switch to it.”
Another key feature of Paragon is its TruTone variable CRI system, adjustable from CRI 73 to CRI 93, allowing the fixture to serve multiple roles within a single show. According to Waterbury, it has proven especially valuable for political and broadcast events. “It has been a real plus when we’ve had to do things for camera or work with video walls. The refresh rate on the fixture has also been extremely helpful.”
The fixture’s indexable 240° full-blackout framing system has also been a “life saver” for corporate events, Means added. “The framing shutters work really well and move consistently from fixture to fixture. That consistency and reliability is outstanding and makes for a more cohesive rig that works together.”
That consistency also benefits programming, he said. “Any feature that makes programming faster is always well received. It gives you time either to refine the programming or simply make the process more efficient, and programmers really appreciate that.”
Following their Shaky Knees Music Festival debut, ASL’s Paragon fixtures have since appeared at Atlanta Pride Festival, Juneteenth Atlanta Music Festival, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival, multiple political events, and more, with more to follow.
