Elation Design Spot 250 & Alkalite PD-80 Controller Receive cETL Approval for U.S. and Canada

Los Angeles - Elation Professional has announced that two of the companys products have been distinguished with cETL approval: the Elation Design Spot 250 moving head and the Alkalite PD-80 LED system controller. The cETL seal, a recognized standard of quality and safety in both the U.S. and Canada, is only granted after rigorous testing of the product and manufacturing facility.

"The new cETL rating comes as great news for us and our customers," said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. "The Design Spot 250 and PD-80 had to pass the very strictest safety and quality inspections in order to merit this internationally recognized seal of integrity. Our cETL status ensures that you are purchasing a high-quality product that is professionally built and completely safe to operate."

The new cETL approval will further broaden the market for the Design Spot 250 and Alkalite PD-80 Controller, both of which are already hot sellers, said Loader.

The Design Spot 250 DMX moving head is a unique "hybrid" effect thats both a spot and wash in one. The ultimate rental unit for any production, show or corporate event - as well as a versatile fixture for permanent installation in theaters, concert halls, and churches - this 16-channel, 250W spotlight offers both frost and iris capabilities. Equipped with dual gobo wheels, the Design Spot 250 allows users to create a morphing effect via gobo overlay. It includes 14 interchangeable metal and glass gobos (seven rotating, seven static), and eight dichroic filters (seven colors plus white). The Design Spot 250 also features true UV filter, which, combined with its frost filter and high-output lamp, delivers an outstanding UV wash effect. The Design Spot 250 is also available in a white color finish, and this unit is cETL approved as well. It is great for churches and other installations with a light décor, the company says.

The PD-80 controller is included with the eight-unit Octopod 36, Octopod 80 and Riva 80 LED lighting systems from Alkalite. The control pack gives the user 6, 12, 24, or 48 DMX channels to work with, so you can control all eight pods at once or manipulate each one individually. It also comes with nine stand-alone chase programs featuring both speed and fade control. Like all Alkalite products, the PD-80 is distributed exclusively by Elation Professional in North America.

Alkalites Octopod 36, Octopod 80 and Riva 80 are networks of eight LED lighting pods that use RBG color-mixing technology to produce a virtually infinite range of colors with amazingly smooth transitions. Since the LEDs produce no infrared or ultraviolet light, heat production is kept to a minimum- so they can shine directly on an object or surface at close range with no risk of discoloration, fading or burning. The three systems are flexible enough to fit a wide variety of applications, and their low heat production makes them ideal lighting systems for architectural use, retail displays, art galleries, video/film productions, and more, the company says. The Octopod 36 comprises eight small pods containing 36 LEDs each: 12 red, 12 blue and 12 green. Each pod measures 4.5" by 6" by 4.25" and weighs 0.5 lbs. It is available in a white or black finish.

The Octopod 80 has eight large lighting pods, each equipped with 90 LEDs: 30 red, 30 green and 30 blue. The systems individual pods measure 6.5" by 4.5" and weigh 1.5lbs, and are available in a white or black finish.

The Alkalite Riva 80 system features 8 large, recessed pods of 27 red, 18 green and 35 blue LEDs. Each pod of the Riva 80 measures 6.5" by 4.5" and weighs 1.5 lbs.

"All of the components of our Design Spot 250 moving head and PD-80 controller were disassembled right down to the wires and inspected against Canadian and U.S.-set regulations," Loader said. "The fact that both great products achieved cETL approval reaffirms that our quality controls are in place at Elation, and that every single fixture is of the same high quality as the last one that was produced. In order to retain this seal of approval, we need to ensure that our factory production methods remain outstanding."

Loader noted that Elation is aiming to get the cETL or UL seal of approval on many other products in its line. "New fixtures are being submitted every month as we finalize products," he said.
