ANAHEIM, CA - When the audio-visual industrys top professionals get together for their biggest event of the year - the InfoComm Show Awards Ceremony -- who do they choose to do the lighting? Elation Professional received the honor of being asked to light up the Awards Ceremony at this years InfoComm Show, held at the Anaheim Hilton on June 18, 2007.
“Of all the lighting companies in attendance at InfoComm, it was a great tribute to have our company and its products chosen to provide lighting and visual effects for this very prestigious industry event,” said Eric Loader, director of sales for Elation Professional. “The Awards Ceremony offered an excellent opportunity to showcase some of our most popular fixtures and cutting-edge technologies to the AV industry.”
Held in the Anaheim Hiltons spacious Pacific Ballroom with more than 1,000 attendees, the Awards Ceremony was a full production event that required substantial illuminative power to light up the massive room and stage. Four of Elations mighty Power Spot 700 CMYs led the way -- a moving head capable of providing 1,200 watts of output in a compact, efficient 700-watt package, thanks to its cutting-edge Philips lamp design that allows it to heat up to an extremely high color temperature rated at 7,500°K. The Power Spot 700 CMY created an array of eye-popping effects with its 2 gobo wheels, CMY Color Mixing Module, and Animation Effect wheel, which produces dynamic vertical and horizontal effects such as clouds, rain, fire and water.
Two popular Elation 575-watt fixtures were also part of the light show - the Design Spot 575E hybrid spot/wash moving head, and the Vision Scan 575E scanner-- as were two 250-watters -- the Design Wash 250 discharge moving head color wash, and the Design Spot 250WH, a new version of the popular hybrid spot/wash in a white case.
The remaining lights at the InfoComm ceremony were LEDs, which were used to illuminate the stage as perimeter lighting, uplighting and truss warmers. These included 24 Design LED 36 Color Changers, 6 Design LED 12 Bricks, 4 Design LED MH Moving Heads, one Design LED 72 Panel, and 10 Design LED 60 Strips. Six of the Design LED 60s were used to light up the diamonds, which were provided by Atomic Design.
InfoComm attendees were impressed with the high output of Elation LEDs, said Loader. “People could see for themselves in side-by-side comparison how our Design LED MH moving heads were comparable in output to a 250-watt moving head. They were truly amazed that LEDs, with their much lower power draw, could produce such brightness.”
Another “show stealer” was Elations wireless DMX control system, the EWDMX system, which flawlessly controlled the lighting, without need for lengthy DMX cables. One EWDMXT transmitter, linked to an Elation Show Designer 3 DMX console, sent out signals to 4 EWDMXR receivers positioned on the trussing to control all the lighting in the room.
Because the EWDMX system utilizes advanced Adaptive Frequency Hopping Technology (FHSS) to change frequencies up to 1,000 times per second and jump to channels not in use, it provides clear, reliable, uninterrupted transmission of DMX signals. “There were 10 wireless microphones in the room, yet there was absolutely no interference with the DMX signal transmission. This is because EWDMX system constantly changes frequencies so it can remain on a free channel,” said Loader. “Many people said they were quite impressed that a wireless DMX control system could perform so reliably without a hitch.”
