Elation Adds Muscle To Intelligent Lighting With Power Spot 250 And Power Wash 250 DMX Moving Heads

LOS ANGELES – Elation Professional has cranked up the power and put intelligent lighting into overdrive with its new Power Spot 250 and Power Wash 250 professional DMX moving head fixtures. A spot and wash-type effect respectively, Power Spot 250 and Power Wash 250 are ideal for nightclubs, churches, corporate events or any performance venue that wants to em-power its lighting presentation with revved-up visual excitement.

Both units feature high-performance optical systems with high luminous-efficiency reflectors, along with brilliant 250-watt discharge lamps. Like top-of-the-line sports cars, they also come “loaded” with DMX-programmable features. As an added bonus, the Power Spot 250 includes an on-board laser effect, in addition to its vast array of colors and gobos.

Here’s a closer look at the Power Spot 250 and Power Wash 250:

Power Spot 250 – A 15-channel DMX fixture, the Power Spot 250 combines two effects into one unit – a moving head spot effect and a laser. A 4.9mW red laser has been built into its optical system to give end-users greater versatility and value for their lighting dollar.

“Today’s lighting users want fixtures that are more versatile and can perform a wider range of functions,” said John Lopez, sales manager for Elation Professional. “The Power Spot 250 fills the bill because it’s actually a dual effect. In addition to functioning as a spot effect with rotating colors and gobos, it can fill a room with the red-hot excitement of laser beams.”

As a spot effect alone, the Power Spot 250 offers an impressive range of features. The unit features a rotating gobo wheel with 6 interchangeable indexable gobos, including 4 metal gobos, one glass gobo and one multi-colored dichroic gobo (27 mm outside diameter, 23 mm image diameter). A separate color wheel contains 11 dichroic color filters (plus open). Users can create even more color combinations by overlaying the multi-color dichroic gobo on the color wheel.

But that’s not all, the Power Spot 250 includes a 3-facet prism that can rotate in both directions at variable speeds. A macro-function feature allows rotating prism/rotating gobo combinations to be created. There’s also a variable speed strobe effect that ranges from 1-10 flashes per second.

The Power Spot 250’s high-tech optical system utilizes a high-luminous-efficiency axial reflector and double condenser lens system. The powerful effect is driven by 10 high-quality stepper motors controlled by microprocessors.

Power Wash 250 – A 14-channel DMX moving head wash effect, the Power Wash 250 has been designed to gives users extreme flexibility in creating colors and beams to their specifications. It features a CMY (cyan, magenta, yellow) color mixing system. Based on graduated cyan, magenta and yellow filters, this color-mixing system allows users to create a continuous range of colors by varying the opacity of each filter from 0% to 100%.

There are also 6 dichroic filters plus white, along with 3200K, 5600K and UV filters. Additionally, the Power Wash 250 features continuous, variable speed color scrolling in both directions to produce a rainbow effect.

As it does with colors, the Power Wash 250 gives users the ability to customize beam shape and intensity. The unit includes a 180° beam shaper that allows beams to be flattened and widened. Beams of any shape can be rotated by 90°. A frost filter on the same wheel can be used to soften the intensity of beams.

Additionally, the beam angle can be manually adjusted from 8° to 22°. This adjustment can be done quickly and easily without requiring the unit to be opened, thanks to the Power Wash 250’s smart case design, which features an External Beam Angle Control Knob.

The Power Wash 250 also includes a variable speed strobe effect that ranges from 1-10 flashes per second. The unit’s optical system features a high luminous-efficiency parabolic reflector and 150 mm Fresnel lens. The Power Wash 250 utilizes nine high-quality stepper motors, which are controlled by microprocessors.

As moving head fixtures, both the Power Spot 250 and Power Wash 250 offer wide coverage and 3 dimensional-like effects, which makes them ideal for professional use in larger venues. Both units have a pan movement range of 530° and tilt movement range of 280°, and feature 8/16 bit movement resolution.

Each of the units also features a user-friendly 4-digit LED display for controlling effects calibration, special functions setting and addressing. The Power Spot 250 and Power Wash 250 can be controlled via any universal DMX controller.

A ZB-MSD250, 250-watt discharge lamp is included with each unit. The suggested retail price of the Power Spot 250 is $1,999.95. The suggested retail price of the Power Wash 250 is $1,999.99.
